Saguaro Storm, Tucson Quilt Guild Annual Show 2007

2006. 60″ x 72″

This original design is made from cotton and silk organza fabric I dyed in my backyard. Techniques used include: hand applique, machine applique, reverse applique, machine embroidery, couched yard, couched silk cord, bobbin drawing.

I loved making this piece; anyone who’s ever seen a saguaro forest in a wintery fog (and there is the rare foggy morning in the Sonoran desert) knows what I’m talking about.
